When I connect the (ps2) keyboard and (ps2) mouse directly to the dimension using the ps2-to-usb adapters, the keyboard is sensed through the adapter, but not the mouse. I have tried a variety of usb ports on the dimension, and I have switched the two adapters - the results have not changed.
That's a motherboard based on a brand-spanking-new Pentium Silver J5005, but has PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard. I've read about it, and it has to do with compatibility with certain Operating Systems, and the fact that legacy systems are more likely to work with devices without having to download the latest drivers.
2. There may be an option in your BIOS something like "USB device emulation" - try toggling that. It may be conflicting with the Linux drivers for some reason. The keyboard is wireless and doesn't work either. I am using an old Logitech keyboard for now that works in the PS/2 but i can not finish the install because I need the mouse to do something. I have tried multiple mice and keyboards. Only the PS/2 works. None of my mice work.
